Yellowstone Experience

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I've been busy blogging on my Mountains Rule Blog about my trip to Yellowstone National Park. I'm finally finished, so take a look if you are interested! These photos are just a sample of what you will see. Above is the Grand Pristmatic Spring, the third largest hot spring in the world measuring 370 feet in diameter. The colors come from pigmented bacteria in the microbial mats around the pool. The temperature averages 160 degrees F and discharges 560 gallons of water a minute. It's one of the most amazing things I've ever seen!

Shailene Woodley and "The Descendants"

My daughter (left) and her friends were excited for the chance to meet Shailene Woodley (right) during the Telluride Film Festival. She plays George Clooney's daughter in his new film "The Descendants" and she also already had a good fan base in Telluride from the show "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" in which she plays the character Amy.

The big Telluride Film Festival TBA this year was the Jennifer Garner comedy "Butter." Director Jim Field Smith was in a rush to get the film ready for the Toronto Film Festival and was panicked when he received a call that they wanted him here for the Telluride fest a week earlier. He had to finish the project and said he brought the film to Telluride in his carry on bag!

Ty Burrell from "Modern Family" plays Jennifer Garner's husband in "Butter." The movie is hilarious and is very different from any story lines I've seen. I don't think they have a release date yet for theaters.

I missed seeing George Clooney during the festival, but I do look forward to seeing "The Descendants."

Meeting Tilda Swinton

Tilda Swinton is here to present her film, "We Need to Talk About Kevin" and also to receive a special tribute from the Telluride Film Festival. She is an Academy Award winning actress as a result of the George Clooney film "Michael Clayton." My daughter and her friends were happy to meet her since she is the White Witch in the "The Chronicles of Narnia" series. My favorite movie of hers was "The Beach" in which she played the island leader, Sal.

The 38th Telluride Film Festival

George Clooney is here! Need I say more? The Telluride Film Festival is doing a special tribute to George Clooney and he is also here presenting his new film "The Descendants." I'm not getting my hopes up of getting a chance to see him, but I did walk right by Jennifer Garner on Main Street this afternoon! Lots of big names in town for the festival, and also because right down the road this weekend is the big wedding of Ralph Lauren's son, David, to Lauren Bush. Keep your fingers crossed that I get some good photos!
