Blizzard Sale
For the past few days all of the shops in Mountain Village have had the yearly "Blizzard Sale" where they clear out their previous winter and this summer's inventory. We did find some great deals on skis and boots, but the best had to be the winter hats my daughters bought for 99 cents! The Joint Point band played all afternoon for some fun live entertainment while shopping.Saturday, August 28, 2010

Fun Interpretation
Someone has a funny and unusual interpretation of Telluride. I have to admit I did see a snake on the Jud Wiebe trail this summer, although it was a little grass snake and not pink and blue. It's probably more unusual to see any kind of snake at this altitude than to see a bear, so I guess I was lucky.Wednesday, August 11, 2010

SkyWatch Friday
I was hiking up alongside the Misty Maiden ski run last week when I turned back and saw the heavy clouds hovering above the Aldasoro Ranch area seen in the distance from Mountain Village.
If you click on the photo above, you should be able to see the plane taking off from the Telluride airport. It's SkyWatch Friday!! To see more beautiful skies all over the world, please visit SkyWatch Friday.

Two Years
I don't know if it's a birthday or an anniversary, but I started this blog two years ago today! Since I just had my 700th post the other day, I obviously missed a few, but I try my best to put something up daily. The monsoon season seems to be here with a vengeance this week. For the third day in a row we woke up to heavy clouds and rain, unusual considering we usually just have an afternoon shower. You may think there couldn't be a monsoon season in the mountains, but that's what we call it every summer when the Pacific moisture from Mexico goes through Arizona up to Colorado.
At least we were treated to a rainbow late yesterday!Monday, August 2, 2010

Theme Day: Bright Colors
Iron oxide adds a splash of color near the summit of Imogene Pass. I thought this photo was sort of patriotic with the bright red, white and blue. Happy August!!Click here to view thumbnails for all participants
