Lookout
This is the view of Telluride where Telluride Trail meets Lookout. The snow was really good this week and I made myself ski Telluride Trail home instead of riding lift 7 down. Telluride Trail is usually icy which causes me to avoid it. Lookout is a double blue run that I avoid because of how steep it is.Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Polar Queen Revisited
Last year I had a bad fall on Polar Queen when I was skiing so fast that when I fell I slid on my back 100 yards or so. I scared my husband and he came down after me so fast and caught an edge and popped out of a ski and fell hard close to where I was. It was kind of a Princess Bride moment, but it scared me so much I really never thought I would get back on that run. Yesterday I somehow had the courage to do several blue runs that I have been avoiding, and had a fantastic day!Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Sad About Baked in Telluride
The oldest restaurant in Telluride, Baked in Telluride, burned to the ground last night. It was actually still smoldering and the firemen were still working on it when I was there on my lunch break. I heard they were able to save the sign and Jerry Greene is already talking about re-building. It's a sad day in Telluride with many people going to see the charred building, kind of like we are paying our respects. The fire has made me think about the prominent buildings that were destroyed by fire or flood in this town in the early 1900's and how it must have affected the people back then. You can't make a trip to Telluride without having a BIT bagel or donut! They have a very large menu and we took our kids there more often than any other place in town, usually for pizza. My favorite was their avocado taco.
At this time I don't know the cause of the fire, but I thank God that no one was hurt and I'm thankful for our volunteer fire department who have been working on the site for hours now.

My World Tuesday: Knock Knock
This young female elk was wandering around the houses in town and tried to get away from some dogs by standing on this porch. We do have wildlife encounters right here in town sometimes.Photo taken by our friend Rick.

SkyWatch Friday
I'm sure I have posted a photo from here before. The Galloping Goose ski run is almost 5 miles long and I ski it just for this stretch with the blue sky high above Wilson Peak.To see more beautiful skies all over the world, please visit SkyWatch Friday.

The Relocation of Stickers
I had the feeling it would happen, I just didn't think it would be this soon. Yesterday Stickers was relocated to a better place. My son and youngest daughter hadn't seen him, and that makes me sad. It is as it should be, but Stickers will be greatly missed. You can read the story at TheDenverChannel.com.Wednesday, February 3, 2010
Porcupine Update
This week I found out the porcupine's name is Stickers, not Snickers. Several people have been calling him by the incorrect name. I also read somewhere that he is actually a she. Stickers is still up there begging for food and apparently has bitten a few fingers thinking he was being handed food. He needs to get back to eating pine bark! I even heard that some people have given him chocolate and gummy bears. That can't be good.Tuesday, February 2, 2010
My World Tuesday: Up and Down
This week the sunny skies have made it irresistible for skiing! I opted not to stay in cleaning and doing laundry so that I could ski on my days off. My ski days start off with riding up lift 7 which is in walking distance of where we live.
Not only do I ride lift 7 up, I also ride it back down. Some people think it's really lame that I don't like the Telluride side of the mountain, but the view from this ride is better than the view from the gondola. I don't suggest this for people that are scared of heights! There are a few spots that feel like you are going straight down.
Lift 7 actually goes over the gondola. It's My World Tuesday!! To see more interesting places all over the world, please visit My World Tuesday.
