Tough Girl

Earlier this week I was riding lift 10, freezing despite my expedition weight long underwear, fleece shirt and ski gear. I was amazed at the people doing snow removal off of the Mountain Village Market roof as they weren't even wearing coats! I know it's hard work, but the girl was wearing a short sleeved shirt!

A Friendly Face

If you visited my blog last winter, you may recall the porcupine that visits skiers up on the mountain. I was so excited to see him again yesterday! He looks like he has been fed well lately. I saw him eat a chunk of a Clif bar that a skier gave him.

Grooming

The Telluride Nordic Association grooms all of the trails for cross-country skiing on the Valley Floor, Trout Lake and Priest Lake. Membership prices are very reasonable and are suggested, not required, to use the trails.

Decorations

As you ride the ski lifts here there are a few trees that are decorated Mardi Gras style. All it takes is a good arm to throw something far enough to decorate the tree.

Ram

The bighorn sheep ram, "Colorado Pride" shared second placed in the Telluride CoolSculpt contest and was my personal favorite. I'm partial to bighorn sheep, plus we know some of the people that worked on this one from the Telluride Mountain School.

The new superpipe is open! This is the view of it from lift 4. For those that like terrain parks, the superpipe and terrain park are open for night skiing now!

Today is City Daily Photo's Blog Day: Best Photo of the Year 2009. I chose the photo I took while skiing on the Telluride Trail and stopped at the top of Kids Hill.

Winter at Bridal Veil Falls

I recently saw the Disney movie UP, and it made me think of the power station house at the top of Bridal Veil Falls. If you haven't seen UP, I recommend it! It's not really a kid movie!

Jealous

I do have a great pair of ski boots that are quite comfortable for me, but walking around in them isn't the easiest thing in the world. The only thing about snowboarding that appeals to me is their big comfy boots.

My World Tuesday: Winter Paragliding

These photos were actually taken by my 12-year-old daughter. She snowboards the whole mountain and is brave enough to go the places I won't go. She did me a favor taking my older camera up on Sunday. After giving her a few tips on taking photos, she did an outstanding job! It was amazing to catch a paraglider when she was at the top of lift 9.

So this is my world through my 12-year-old daughter's eyes and my old camera. Thank you Savanna! To see more wonderful places all over the world, My World Tuesday.

The Mortgage Store

The good people at The Mortgage Store helped us get into our new condo. We couldn't have handled the difficult process without them! We became fast friends with Carter and Ginger. It is people like them that make Telluride a great place to live.

The Best Tamale

La Cocina de Luz is a place that probably does not need free advertising as they seem to be busy all of the time, but I had to mention their tamales!! They are the best I have ever had, and I have had my share of authentic tamales. I always plan to take a photo of my plate, only to remember a few bites in. I did remember this time after taking one bite! You probably notice the feta cheese, which seems unusual in a Mexican restaurant, but it is delicious!

Theme Day: Changes and SkyWatch Friday

The January 2010 City Daily Photo Theme Day is "Changes." I chose photos from my new home. We have moved slightly north of where we were, so the views have changed a little bit. I have to go out on my deck to see the view above. Now that we have settled in I hope to get back to visiting blogs more often. I'm way behind!

This is now the view from my office and home windows. At first I was disappointed not to be able to see Ajax Peak and people skiing down this side of the mountain, but I do have a view of the Valley Floor which pretty busy with cross country skiers out on the groomed trail. Of course, we still have our beautiful sky! Not only is it Theme Day, it is also the first SkyWatch Friday of 2010!
