Lift 13 is The Lynx and is a 3 minute pomma lift ride from Prospect Basin to Ute Park. I think it takes a little bit of coordination to ride and skate along this. Just the other day someone took out a big part of the orange fence on the right. This is also a common place to see porcupines, although I haven't seen one around here yet.Saturday, February 28, 2009

Taking a Break
On Monday of this week, most people around here took a break from skiing because it was RAINING!!! Yes, raining in February in a ski town. Most of us had the same expression on our faces as this dog. Luckily it was snowing up at the higher elevations of the ski area and the rain on the lower runs didn't do too much damage.Wednesday, February 25, 2009
A Few More Revelations
Here are a few more photos taken by my husband when he skied Revelation Bowl. The photo above was taken when he stopped on a run inside the Bowl. In the photo below, you can see Telluride just right of center.Tuesday, February 24, 2009
My World Tuesday: Revelation Bowl's Bear Creek Overlook Observation Deck

“With the opening of Revelation Bowl, Telluride has again set itself apart as one of the premiere ski destinations,” said CEO Dave Riley. “What we offer for inbounds terrain, including Prospect Bowl, Palmyra Peak, and now Revelation Bowl, would be hard to find anywhere else in North America." The opening of Revelation Bowl is kind of a big deal around here!
This is a small part of my world. Please visit My World Tuesday for more wonderful photos around the world.Monday, February 23, 2009

Revelation Bowl
My husband took the camera with him into Revelation Bowl since I don't ski in this area. The Revelation Lift is brand new this season and is our highest elevation lift, reaching 12,570 feet above sea level. Not only can advanced skiers ski the bowl, the new lift also provides easier access to the Gold Hill Chutes and backcountry skiing into Bear Creek.Saturday, February 21, 2009

My 200th Post!!
I wanted to celebrate my 200th post with a photo of my favorite material possession, my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Last summer I got out of the Jeep and took pictures while my husband drove down the Black Bear Pass switchbacks. Black Bear Pass is the difficult trail that starts on highway 550 between Silverton and Ouray, and ends in Telluride at Bridal Veil Falls. The trail normally opens sometime in July, allowing time for all of the snow to melt. Snow and skiing are fun, but my real passion is Jeeping and camping off the trails in the summer!Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Ophir Loop
The easiest ski run off of lift 5 has to be Ophir Loop. If I'm wanting to do something really easy, I'll ski the top half of Ophir Loop and the bottom half of Dew Drop. Lift 5 has several great intermediate ski runs, blues and double blues, which allows my husband to ski something harder (a few runs even have moguls) and meet me at the bottom of the lift.Saturday, February 14, 2009
Lift 5
A group of people are skiing down the upper part of Cake Walk to get to lift 5 pictured above. I just realized the orange fence looks kind of strange. You have to turn right before you reach the fence to get to the bottom of the lift. Fences like this are used as skiing boundaries.Hope everyone has a nice Valentine's Day full of chocolate or whatever you like!

SkyWatch Friday

We had a major snowstorm this week that truly delighted all of the skiers and snowboarders. I stopped under lift 10 to take a photo of the very brief break in the clouds. My husband is on the left skiing down the double black run, Holy Cow. We had almost 2 feet of snow dumped on us in 48 hours. The current snow report for the ski area shows a season total of 214 inches, and that is just since November.

Skis in the Air
Most of the time I ride lift 7 back down to get home. I don't ski the Telluride side of the mountain very often. There is only one blue run called Telluride Trail that I just don't like. The rest of the runs on this side are blacks and very scary to me. I thought it would be funny to stick my Roxy skis up in front of town for this photo. I was in the shade at this time in the afternoon.Wednesday, February 11, 2009

My Favorite Mountain
I admit that stopping on the Cake Walk ski run to take a picture is not a good idea, but I couldn't resist. This part of the ski run is narrow and used as a path to ski from lift 5 back down to Mountain Village and is flat and people get mad if they have to stop and then walk/hop to get going again, but with a view like this of Wilson Peak, I had to stop! Besides, I got over to the side as far as I could and made sure no one was coming.Saturday, February 7, 2009

SkyWatch Friday
This is my first attempt at a SkyWatch Friday photo. I follow some blogs that participate, two of my favorites being Ivar Ivrig’s blog and The Rocky Mountain Retreat Photography, but it was my friend over at Bluff Area Daily that urged me to participate. I took this photo while riding lift 10 on Sunday while we were skiing. We could see the moon all day. Can you see it? It is right above the pine tree. Please visit SkyWatch Friday for more beautiful photos.
