SkyWatch Friday: SkyCoaster

This week my husband, youngest daughter and son almost touched the sky while riding the SkyCoaster at the Royal Gorge Park near Cañon City, Colorado. I'm glad they enjoyed it, but I wouldn't ride that swing if they paid me!!
This is the view of the Royal Gorge that I took from the tram. The Arkansas River is way below. The next day my husband and son rafted the Gorge, one of the most extreme rafting experiences to be had in Colorado!

To see more beautiful and interesting skies all over the world, please visit

I think I would sit that one out, too.

I'm glad you took this picture, because just the thought makes me dizzy. This really is touching the sky. Thanks for sharing.

Cool shots! I've been to the Royal Gorge, but I thought it was the Colorado River that ran through.

Oh well, great pics!

Yes, Tricia, this is the Arkansas! The headwaters are near Leadville, CO and the river flows on the eastern side of the Continental Divide through Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. The Colorado River starts in Rocky Mountain National Park, then flows west through Colorado, Utah, the Grand Canyon and eventually and sadly it now dries up before reaching the Gulf of Mexico.

Wow...these are two breathtaking shots! I can see why you wouldn't ride the SkyCoaster! That view of the Royal Gorge is awesome...

Well I'd just have to try it. I live in a quiet world. I need the excitement.

Swings at the Gorge. I had heard things had changed....guess they have! It's still a beautiful place.

Since I get sick on the rides at DisneyWorld, you would never ever get me on that thing! Also I just have to say it--that gorge is gorgeous Lisa :)

Lovely photos! Our daughter thinks the Royal Gorge is wonderful...methinks it is wonderful to look at from a safe venue tied solidly to a pole cemented in the ground!
