CoolSculpt Winner

The winner of the CoolSculpt contest in the SnowFest over the weekend was titled "Metaphor Machine" by the Telluride Mountain School. I don't know who had the idea of sculpting a Sumo wrestler being pushed by a little wrestler, but it turned out great and 1st prize was $1,000.

How do they do ice sculpture? Do they compact snow into a big block, then chip it? Do they do it in parts (each sumo wrestler separately) and then combine them?

Well this was snow, and I missed watching them do the sculpting, so I'm not sure what kind of tools they used. There were big blocks of snow placed around the village and had walls and a ceiling to hold it in place until the sculpting began, too.

It's certainly a different kind of sculpture.

They both are really great, but I still like the one from yesterday better!

Seeing these in person would be a real treat! Nobody asked me, but I'd vote for yesterday's sculpture... I really like gnomes!
